About Jay Wicks
Over the 32 years of his engineering experience, Jay has designed, installed and maintained protective relaying systems, control and automation systems, as well as all types of electrical infrastructures.  He was a member of the original SRP Power Quality team completing power quality investigations in many different types of industries.

From 1999 to 2014, Jay was responsible for all electrical systems at SRP's Coronado Generating Station's two 450MW coal-fired units as a Principal Electrical Engineer.  He has been developing and teaching safety, electrical, grounding and power quality classes since 1998.

After retiring from SRP, Jay opened his company, Black Marble Electrical Solutions, to concentrate on his passion for teaching. 
Jay Wicks, a native of New York, holds a BSEE degree from Virginia Tech. He was employed at Florida Power and Light and later moved to Arizona to work for Salt River Project in Phoenix.
Jay's interests in all things electrical is an essential part of his life.  He and his wife designed and built an off-grid home in the Arizona White Mountains.  If you get the chance, ask him about his completely electric fishing boat including an outboard motor and wireless trolling motor.

Through teaching, Jay contributes to making facility workplaces safer and more efficient environments.  By sharing his practical skills using his common sense teaching techniques, new technicians and engineers entering the workforce, will learn how to handle electrical systems and maintenance safely and efficiently by someone who has been in their place.
